What is ping, and why location matters
Ping (also called latency) is the time a message takes to go from you to the server and back, measured in milliseconds (ms). Every click and every key you press on Remote Desktop has to make that trip. Data in internet cables travels about 200 km in one millisecond, so every 1,000 km adds about 10 ms to a round trip — and real internet routes are never straight. A faster processor cannot fix distance.
How ping feels on Remote Desktop

Real ping from Karachi and Lahore
WonderNetwork runs test servers around the world and publishes the average ping between cities. These are their numbers, checked on 25 September 2026. They are not CrownVPS measurements — your own ping depends on your internet company and the route it uses.

|---|---|---|---|
| Pakistan (Karachi ↔ Lahore) | 23 ms | — | Local |

Nearest on the map is not always fastest
Mumbai is only about 880 km from Karachi — closer than Dubai — yet the average ping is around 251 ms. That is because internet traffic between Pakistan and India does not take a direct path; it goes the long way round. Dubai is further on the map but has a short, direct route, so it feels much faster. Always go by real ping, not by the map.
Why Dubai, Singapore and Europe are well connected
Pakistan’s internet reaches the world through big undersea (submarine) cables that land on the coast at Karachi. These include TW1 (to the UAE and Oman), SEA-ME-WE 4 and 5, IMEWE, AAE-1, PEACE and 2Africa, which run towards the Gulf, Asia, Africa and Europe. That is why the Gulf, Singapore and Western Europe have good routes from Pakistan. When one of these cables is cut, traffic has to go another way and pings can rise for a while — having your server close to home keeps you less affected.
When speed from Pakistan is not the point
- US clients, Amazon, eBay or US-only services — you need a US IP address. Choose the USA; the east coast (New York) is closest to Pakistan. USA RDP
- Forex trading — put the server near your broker’s server, not near you. Your robot sends orders from the server to the broker; what you see through RDP is only a screen. Many brokers are in London, New York or Frankfurt. Forex VPS
- A website for visitors in other countries — host it where the visitors are.
- A UK or European IP address — UK, Germany or Netherlands.
- Gulf customers — UAE or Saudi Arabia.

Frequently asked
Which RDP gives the lowest ping from Pakistan?
A server in Pakistan, then Dubai. WonderNetwork’s average ping from Karachi to Dubai is about 48 ms, and from Lahore about 37 ms. Real pings depend on your internet company.
What is the ping from Pakistan to Singapore?
About 76 ms from Karachi and 97 ms from Lahore on average, according to WonderNetwork (September 2026). That is smooth for Remote Desktop.
Why is ping to India so high from Pakistan?
Traffic between the two countries does not go directly, so it travels a long way round. That is why Mumbai shows about 251 ms even though it is close on the map.
Is a USA RDP too slow to use from Pakistan?
No. It works well for browsing, office work and client systems. But you will notice a short delay when you type. If you need a US IP address, this is worth it. If you do not, choose a closer location.
Does an undersea cable cut slow my server?
It can slow the route between Pakistan and some countries for a while. A server in Pakistan or the Gulf is usually less affected than one far away.
Does the location affect price?
A little. See each location’s page for its prices. Choose the location that fits your work first. The wrong location is a bad deal at any price.
